Holiday 1

On the first day of their Hajj holiday, all the kids come around and say, Happy Holiday, and then you give them candy. Yes, it's like trick or treating. Susan enjoys giving the candy out and seeing the kids. She is pretty in her K dress.

grill 1

This is my grill. I made a model of it out of cardboard and then took it to a metal craftsman. It works fantastic!!! helps me deal with culture frustration sometimes.

village 9

The government put a big generator in the village so people will have electricity at night until 11pm. The light at night is really nice but I told him if he gets a satelite and TV like some others have, I am not coming back.

I gave Moose a small mp3 player. It has the NT in Arabic on it. He likes to listen to it at night, and he really enjoys it. I hope that the stories will penetrate his heart and he will come to believe fully.

Megan helping our host make dulma. They cook big green leaves until they are soft, then put rice with spices in them and roll them up and cook them all. As you can see everything is done on the ground. No work tables.

Getting a fire ready to cook dinner. That is my grill in the background there. I had it made here. The locals have never seen anything like it, but they sure like to eat the meat after it's done.

Susan is preparing walnuts to eat. There are lots of huge (english) walnut trees in this area. It is traditional to sit and have tea and walnuts when visiting.

Village Girls

Megan had a blast playing in the village on our recent visit. She played in the springfed creek, ate lots of blackberries, cracked walnuts, and observed the honey being harvested. Her hands are still black a week later from the walnuts. Our honey friends had her and Brianna special kids bee outfit made so they could watch. They are a little spoiled.

Bee Boxes

Here's our bee friend in the mountains of K-stan with his bee boxes. Notice the little black solar light on the right. They have these around in an effort to keep the bears out of the honey at night.

Village brooms

These two cute kids wanted to pose for a picture. A lady had just finished scraping all the seeds off of the end of these broom plants on the piece of wood. They will then tie up several pieces together to make a broom. They K's still haven't figured out to put a handle on the broom yet.

I did it!

There was a 50 meter pool at the hotel where we vacationed. Megan is taking after her Daddy and was determined that she was going to make it all the way across. She did it and this is her proud "I did it!" look.

Buried Alive

I buried Megan in the sand. She was a little anxious because she was so close to the sea and the waves kept crashing in.

The girls and Tim spent lots of time making this squid and enjoying some fun in the sun.
