Newroz 2010

The first day of Newroz was a little cool, but we had a great time. The wind was blowing and the kids were flying kites. I fixed a tarp from the side of the truck for shade, but everyone stayed out in the sun for warmth. We only went out for 2 days of Newroz.

Susan is very pretty in her K dress. And Megan is wearing overalls.

dancing

This year we did not do much dancing or have too big a party. We did have a nice day and had a good time with James and his family. White Baptists can't dance, so we didn't.

muddy fun

Brianna and Megan and Nada were having a blast in the mud. Hana was having a cow b/c her daughter was so dirty. She threw a fit when Nada picked up a little turtle. Megan was showing Nada all the green stuff that K peole eat in the mountains. We were going home and Megan said, "Daddy, we need to take them out more, she is such a city slicker."

bath tub

This is a K'ish bath tub. It is a nice place to take a bath or just cool off (except it wasn't hot that day). These are our friends NZ and his wife "Hana". He is a family member, but she is still a long way off and kicks the goads as hard as she can.

On fire

Megan is on fire. After we played in that first area all day, we changed scenes and went to the top of the mountain right above where we were originally. We built a fire and made tea and corn on the cob (corn is courtesy of the USARMY). It was a nice light supper and the scenery was beautiful.

last shot

Picnicing for 2 days was great, but I was exhausted. We had a great time. That night I was in bed before 10, that is way early here, and I slept hard until about 9:00 the next morning. Everyone else did too.

dove

This is outside our upstairs bathroom. This dove laid some eggs and the girls have been looking at it periodically from the roof to follow the lives of the chicks or whatever they are called.

team pic

This is a neat hillside. it is all terraced off in nice level plots. I can not believe people around here actually worked that hard to build all these things. Really did a nice job. It is a beautiful area.

team retreat

After a very successful session at our English Institute, we decided to take a team trip for a few days. We left on thursday and stayed 2 nights and came back Sat. We had a good time visiting, exploring, and just acting like tourists. For some strange reason, we stuck out. Michael said it was b/c of Megans blonde hair and American accent (she doesn't have an accent in K, she sounds like all the other kids.)

There was a lot of snow on the mountains. Made for a lot of pretty views.
