Oooooh! Mud!

Work or play?  I don't know, but Megan had fun.  A trip to the spring was necessary.

Springs, springs, springs!

K-land is blessed with many springs.  The girls and I added up 12 springs that we know of in this little village that we visited.  The platform on top is designed so they can do their ritual cleaning and then pray.  We've noticed in the city that people go from place to place and never take water.  After staying in this village for a few days we understand why now.  There is always a spring within a short walking distance.

Corn or Brooms?

The plant at the bottom right hand corner looks like a corn plant.  It's not!  They harvest the tastle part of the plant and tie them together.  Ta-da!  They have a broom.  Somehow they haven't figured out to put a handle on it.  The ladies sweep all bent over.

There are plenty of potatoes for him and his family (10 kids at home).

water channels

This is the end of the water channel that ends up at Mooses field.  The direct the river water to channels that run along the side of the mountain and then direct it to their gardens.  Their rows all have a ditch beside them and the ditches fill with water. Quite ingenious.

After helping water the gardens, they are ready to go back for tea.
